A splash of colour

On Saturday, we had intended to complete our risk assessments for the site, but the icy, bitter weather had other plans for us. We decided to pivot, and it turned into a thoroughly lovely alternative, putting up our community bunting around the new cabin.

A massive thank you to John Bruce for crafting the beautiful wooden flags, and to the residents at St Olaf for their time and creativity in decorating them. It was a true team effort involving our wider volunteer group, and I hope you will all agree that the end result looks quite dandy indeed.

I had such a special time at St Olaf’s yesterday meeting the residents behind this project. It was a privilege to sit down with them and see the care they poured into decorating our wooden bunting, which now adds such a personal touch to our beach wheelchair base. I think you will agree they have done a truly beautiful job. We were particularly honoured to work with our oldest artist, who is 99 years young. Thank you to everyone who contributed, and a special thank you to Elena for the lovely invitation to visit.

We are making steady progress through the winter months and look forward to sharing more updates with you very soon. Seeing the community come together like this, from the hand-crafted decorations to the support of our volunteers, is what makes this project so meaningful. We cannot wait to see our finished cabin standing proudly by the beach once the weather warms up and invite everyone at St Olaf Care Home to come visit.
